Heartworm Fund

The Jefferson SPCA is committed to giving dogs a second chance at a furever home and that includes being free from heartworm disease. We spend about $100K each year treating heartworm positive dogs that are adopted from the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter. So far in 2015, from January to May, we have adopted out 161 heartworm positive dogs. We’ve spent $72K in those short 5 months. We’re seeing a very high number of heartworm positive dogs enter the shelters this year. We can’t continue to save these dogs without your support.
